Peasant Costume in Europe

Various black-and-white and some color illustrations and descriptions of common folk costume across Europe from roughly the 19th to early 20th centuries. Originally published as two volumes, 1931-1936 by A. & C. Black, this is a 1950 2-in-1 reissue by Macmillan. Includes chapters on France; Spain; Italy; Switzerland; the British Isles; Holland (Netherlands); Germany; Denmark; Sweden; Finland; Russia (then inclusive of Belarus and Ukraine); Poland; the Balkans including Yugoslavia (today Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, and Slovenia), Bulgaria, and Albania; and Central Europe including Austria, Hungary, Czechoslovakia (today Czech Republic, Slovakia, and part of Ukraine). Various countries are noticeably absent, including Greece, Portugal, Belgium, Luxembourg, Norway, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Malta, and Cyprus.
